PATH BECOMES GREEN

Recently Path earned her Green Designation by completing a 3-day course given by the National Association of Realtors. NAR's Green designation if the ONLY green real estate training program recognized by the National Association of REALTORS. It is estimated that 95 percent of buyers are interested in energy efficiency in their homes. This course provided principles, resources, and a knowledge base for providing potential buyers and sellers with current information regarding the newest technologies.

Homes and buildings account for 40 percent of energy consumption. Real estate generates 21 percent of greenhouse gas emissions.

~Use CFC lightbulbs ~Weatherstrip and caulk doors and windows ~Buy Energy Star appliances ~Install a tankless water heater system ~Turn water off when brushing teeth ~Install low-flow showereheads and faucets ~Attach barrels to gutter for rain water capture ~Use low-VOC products to reduce air pollution ~Consider bamboo or cork flooring when remodeling ~Use cabinets with sustainable harvested wood ~Use permeable pavers instead of cement walkways ~Incorporate storm water runoff into landscape design ~Create a backyard compost to enrich the soil naturally ~Buy native plants to reduce waer needed
